Is there anything sharper and more striking than a black leather suit? Personally I can’t think of much that really compares. Obviously different colours are always interesting, but I always keep coming back to black.
Take a crisp white cotton shirt, pair it with black leather trousers, jacket and gloves. Add in a block colour tie and essential accessories including cufflinks, tie pin, belt… and for the feminine touch, earrings in matching colours. All finished off with a sleek pair of trainers?!
Yes that’s right. As obvious as a pair of black Oxford or brogue shoes would have been – and yes, I know they would have looked spot on – I simply couldn’t help myself. Maybe it’s the mischievous big kid in me who used to climb trees and scramble up anything I could, and consequently was never allowed to have a pair of really nice shoes. Or it could be that I like to thumb my nose at convention and do things my way.
You have to admit though, the pure white trainers make for a very sharp contrast against the black leather suit. And for the record, I can hear my mum telling me to get off the drawers and sit on a chair, but once again, I never was any good at doing as I was told.
