In the years before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I could often be found wandering the various high streets in search of a charity shop leather bargain. I will be the first to admit that more often than not I came back with some run of the mill leathers, maybe a pair of shoes that I could rough around in or nothing at all, but sometimes I really did get lucky. This pair of knee high, black leather boots by Prada had to be one of the most amazing bargains I have ever stumbled across.
It was a normal afternoon shopping jaunt around some local charity shops where I had picked up some real leather gems previously. This time however, I hadn’t found much of interest at all – not even a top or tie. I was on my way back to the car with nothing but a handful of cards for upcoming birthdays. The weather was on the turn and I didn’t have a raincoat or umbrella with me.

I decided to pop into one final charity shop and see if they had anything interesting. As I passed the footwear display, a pair of black leather knee high boots caught my eye. Even without touching them I know that the leather was soft and good quality, and picking them up only confirmed this. When I turned them over to look at their size, I couldn’t believe my luck. Embossed into the sole was PRADA. As they looked to be my size, I just had to try them on.
They were the perfect fit, and when I saw the price tag, I wasted no time in handing over my £20 and getting both the boots and some change. When I got home, I did a bit of research to check that they were authentic. After a short amount or web trawling, I found the boots with and original price tag of £799.

A pair of boots as beautiful as these need showing off and this time I chose to wear them with an equally soft black leather mini skirt from Mango with lovely gold chain detail down the sides. The shine on both the boots and skirt were delightful so I decided to keep the gold theme going with a gold satin top, also from Mango.
My final decision was which pair of gloves to wear with my Prada boots. Over the elbow or full length would have worked, but aside from the unlined black leather pair that I showcased in a previous article I didn’t have any that matched the quality of the rest of the outfit. I was about to look through my wrist length gloves when I remembered that I had a pair of wrist cuffs with gold chain detail similar to that on the skirt. I put them on and they did really finish off the outfit and tie all of the items together.
