With Remembrance Day around the corner, I felt it only appropriate to mark the occasion. When it came to accessorising this black leather suit, I worked with the symbolism of the red poppies that are associated with this solemn occasion.
Once again, this suit is a mixture of different labels that work really well together. Partly due to the fit, but mostly because of the way the black leather of the jacket and trousers glistens in the light. One thing that is worth highlighting about this particular Mango leather jacket is the button hole on the lapel so I was able to wear my poppy broach without damaging the leather. I do believe that this is one of only a handful jackets in my collection that has this feature, which is another reason that I chose it for this outfit.

The Marks & Spencer Per Una leather trousers I am wearing are a traditional cut and fit me perfectly. In fact they fit me so well that when I found another pair for sale on eBay, I grabbed myself yet another bargain. Given that I wear leather suits so often, I don’t think that it is unreasonable to have a lot of black leather trousers. If I was going to have any pair of my many pairs of black leather trousers copied, I think this pair would be very near the top of the list.
To contrast against the black leather and keep the “poppies” theme going, I picked a red cotton shirt by T.M. Lewin. I have found that this brand of shirt to feel nice and fit me really well. The double cuffs on it also allow me to wear a pair leather driving gloves with the suit.

My final flourish was the shoes. When I first started wearing suit, it wasn’t easy to find traditional Oxford shoes for women. Luckily I have small feet so I was able to get away with wearing boys shoes instead. Over the years, suit shoes for women have become more fashionable thankfully, but I will always say to myself that I had the idea and the high street followed my example!
